saying goodbye to my child

saying goodbye to my child
Originally uploaded by paintingloftcom.

it is always a strange feeling when you ship a painting to a gallery. you never know if you will ever see it again. strange to say but you don't want to! you hope it sells and that's how being an artist works. any real artist will tell you that creating art, music or whatever is not just going through the motions. there is emotions as well. Tori Amos calls her song "children". it's fitting i think.

this child is going to HOLLYWOOD! :) to the 12th annual group show at the La Luz de Jesus Gallery on Hollywood blvd. in LA. Called

"Everything But the Kitschen Sync" the 12

the names of all the accepted artist were just posted. check it out. show info:

Going In All Directions!

*Sending work to LA and Oregon.

*Getting a painting finished for the new "Moments of Grace" show in Worcester.

*Getting two works ready for Strychnin Gallery in Berlin.(check them out! I'm on there "artist" page. )

*Sending images for a possible inclusion in another book that they are putting together in NYC called "Art That Creeps".

Planning a few new works for a show in November in their Berlin location.

also..

*Waiting for Book number 2 to come out in Austria.

Lexikon der Phantastischen Künstler’,

an encyclopedia in german language of artists working in the fantastic, surrealistic, visionary, fantasy and symbolic style.

This book is a truely huge project with 1,000 artist included from 60 countries! (just imagine all the languages they needed to translate) This kinda makes it official to be included in an "encyclopedia". right? I feel like I have a little more credibility. It's definitely gonna be cool! A bit about the author : Gerhard Habarta is since 1958 curator, author, editor and publisher of exhibitions and books about 20th century art and fantastic artists work.

... did I mention the relaunch of this Blog?

Upcomming Show!

ArtsWorcester Exhibition at the Aurora Gallery. March 6th

In collaboration with the Museum of Russian Icons, this show will explore art created for spiritual enlightenment. Moments of Grace will offer locally created works inspired by and derived from Icons. I have submitted one of my recently completed paintings. (well actually, I'm still working on it to make it better)

I think this is gonna be a cool show. This is right up my alley since I've been painting Icons since around 2000. I would love to see the Aurora Gallery look like a church.

The piece I have been working on has "the All Seeing Eye" inserted into it with a bit of a twist. Here is a sneak peek detail of what I am working on.

I guess I will make you wait for the show reception to unveil it. Here is the info for the show:
ArtsWorcester 660 Main Street at the Aurora, Worcester, MA 01610
Open Reception Friday, March 6, 2009, 6:00 to 8:00 pm
On view through: Friday, April 3, 2009
